NOTE: with all junior age groups, the age you turn in 2019 is the age you play, IE: a player turning 9 years old between 1st January and 31st December during 2019 is eligible for the U9 age group. (There are special circumstances for players to play up one age group)

Any players wishing to play with a particular friend can be done by request when registering to play for Kingscliff and we will do our upmost to achieve a successful outcome. We can not follow the same process if either player is involved with trials for a JPL or development team.

U6/7 In-house League (mixed gender)
If your child is turning 5, 6 or 7 during 2019 they eligible to play in our U6/7 in-house league.
All players are coached by our club coaches on Tuesday afternoons and games will be on Friday afternoons with a qualified junior Referee. Every team will have their own parent game leader to manage the Friday night games.
Training starts: 25th February 2019
Games start: 26th April 2019

Miniroos Football U8 to U11

U8 teams will be grouped into teams with no trial process

U9 to U11 will be grouped into three levels; Joey`s, Wallabies and Kangaroo leagues but with no points score for a league table.

KDFC will run a trial process to identify players for the Kangaroo leagues (development teams).

U12 to U18 will be selected into teams and placed into the appropriate division, from Division 3 to the Junior Premier League in each age group. In each of these leagues scores are kept and recorded on a league table which determines a division winner and a top four to play in a finals series.

Playing Formats:

U6/7 in-house: 4 v 4 (no goal keepers)

U8 & U9:  7 v 7 (one goal keeper and six field players)

U10, U11 & U12: 9 v 9 (one goal keeper and eight field players)

U13 to Seniors: 11 v 11 (one goal keeper and ten field players)


U8 to U15

All players will receive a one hour pro-skill session with our club coaches and a team session with their own team coach per week.

Development and JPL teams will receive an extra development session with an advanced level development coach.

U16 to U18

All players are part of a youth development program which will consist of two sessions per week with the youth development coaches.

Girls Program Training:

U8 and U9 girls

All players will receive a one hour pro-skill session with our club coaches and a team session with their own team coach per week.

U10 to U16

All players will receive a one hour pro-skill session from an advanced level development coach and a team session with their own team coach per week.

NOTE: A full schedule of training times will be released as teams are formed.


U6/7 in-house league play Friday afternoons at Kingy starting 26th April

U8 to U14 play Saturday mornings with home and away matches.

U15 to U18 play Friday nights with home and away fixtures.

At this stage all junior games are due to start weekend 26/27th April, except for Kangaroo (development) and JPL teams, who are due to play in a three-week pre-season carnival set up starting 22/23rd March. Information will passed on once received.


With over 30 juniors referee`s at KDFC our aim is to have every game run by a referee. To ensure we provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our referees we have engaged the service of a referee mentor. Please read all about him HERE
